Bob Hoskins Bio
Founder
"The dream of reaching every child with God's word in their own language and in a way that addresses their unique personal challenges can come true."
-Bob Hoskins
Believing that every child's life can be positively transformed by understanding the message of the Bible, Bob Hoskins founded OneHope (formerly Book of Hope International) in 1987. That year Hoskins was asked by the Minister of Education in El Salvador to provide Bibles to the country's 986,000 school children. Instead of Bibles, he delivered a creative publication customized for the special challenges and interests of the country's children and youth. This publication, given to some 650 million children and youth, has become known as the Book of Hope.
For more than 20 years, Hoskins has worked with thousands of likely and unlikely partners and volunteers - including public health officials, national departments of education, relief organizations, local churches and Christian organizations - to reach more than a half billion children with the message of the Bible. Translated into some 70 languages and hand-delivered in 125 countries, the Book of Hope is an interactive, Bible-based children's publication customized with culturally specific images, games, family activities and stories.
Driven by a vision of introducing people to the message of the Bible, Hoskins and his wife Hazel served for 50 years as resident missionaries in Lebanon, Africa, South America and France. Since founding OneHope, Hazel Hoskins has worked closely with the organization, taking a special interest in ministry to girls and women.
Today the Hoskins make their home in Hillsboro Beach, Fla. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
